Maradona to Sue Konami Over PES 2017 Image Rights
Diego Maradona, 1986 World Cup winner and former FC Barcelona player, has announced that he will "initiate legal actions" after he discovered that Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 featured his likeness without him consenting to it.
PES 2017 to Lose Barcelona Legends?
Will these legends be gone from PES 2017 soon?
A new feature in PES this year, the 2017 edition added various former Barcelona superstars, including Maradona but also Brazilian stars Ronaldinho and Ronaldo, in MyClub, its FUT-like online team building mode.
Following Maradona's statement, it looks like Konami didn't really go through the struggle to get the required licensing agreements to include these legends. This means not only that they could disappear from the game swiftly, but also that the company would have to pay a compensation to Maradona and Co.
Whose side are you on? Should Konami be forced to pay Maradona and the other legendary players for having used their licenses in the game? Drop us a line below.
