Confirmed: Real Madrid and Atletico to Drop Custom Fonts This Weekend
Update: Atletico just confirmed that they will be using the league-wide font on Instagram. They will take on Girona later today.
It looks like some teams aren't all too happy with La Liga's recent introduction of a new, league-wide typeface for player names and numbers. Whereas clubs such as Barcelona and Sevilla have used the new font all throughout pre-season, both Real Madrid and Atletico have almost completely neglected its existence - not wearing it in any games so far and not selling it in their stores either.
However, as Footy Headlines was able to learn, both teams will have to switch to the rather unconvincing league font starting this weekend. Atletico will visit Girona on Saturday evening, with Real Madrid debuting a day later at Depor's Riazor stadium.
To get an idea about how the font is going to look like on Real Madrid's kits, below are some pictures from the FIFA 18 beta, which featured it.
Should La Liga drop the one-for-all font nonsense or at least redesign the current one? Or are you happy with it? Drop us a line below.
