The 5 Best & 5 Worst 2017-18 Bundesliga Kits

Following up on our reviews of the new La Liga, Premier League and Serie A kits, let's take look at the best and worst kits of the 2017-2018 Bundesliga campaign. Just as the Premier League, Bundesliga introduced custom sleeve sponsors for the 2017-18 campaign, meaning that there sometimes is a not fitting colorful logo on the left sleeve.

5 Worst 17-18 Bundesliga Kits

5 - Nike Hertha 17-18 Third Kit

An old Nike Teamwear kit without any club-specific details except the crest and colorful / unfitting sponsor logos are the reasons why the new Nike Hertha Berlin 17-18 third shirt is one of the worst Bundesliga kits of the 2017-2018 season.

4 - Erima Köln 17-18 Away Kit

Köln's 2017-2018 third kit is more suitable for a Pyjama party than for a Bundesliga match.

3- Kappa Borussia Mönchengladbach 17-18 Home Kit

Kappa's last new home kit for Gladbach before Puma will take over in 2018 makes it in our list because of the strange design on the sleeves, the cut and the yellow Postbank logo. It will be hard for Puma to design a classy Gladbach home shirt with that yellow logo as a fixed part, however.

2 - Puma Dortmund 17-18 Home Kit

Puma has released a ton of Borussia Dortmund home kits in the past few years, and only some of their modern and unique designs were good. The BVB 17-18 home kit featuring fading hoops with those containing the Puma and the Evonik logo different to the other for maximum legibility is definitely one of the worst Puma released for the club.

1 - Jako Bayer Leverkusen 17-18 Home Kit

It was not a good start for Jako this season as their Hannover 96 jersey ripped apart like paper in a pre-season friendly and Russian club Rubin Kazan is not happy with the brands' quality, and their Leverkusen 17-18 home kit is also really bad, especially the combination of the collar and the graphic design on the front.

5 Best 17-18 Bundesliga Jerseys

5 - Puma VfB Stuttgart 17-18 Third Kit

Part of Puma's Step Out collection, the new VfB Stuttgart was the best-selling kit Puma released for the club in the past few years.

4 - Lotto Hoffenheim 17-18 Home Kit

It may not look perfect from close up, but the Hoffenheim 17-18 home kit looks stylish on the pitch and from the top.

3- Adidas Hamburg 17-18 Away Kit

Inspired by Adidas' classic 1980s kits, the new Hamburger SV 17-18 away kit is a real beauty. The colors looked a bit different on the pitch, and the pattern was also not very visible in the match against Köln, unfortunately.

2 - Nike Hertha Berlin 17-18 Home Kit

Celebrating the 125-years anniversary of the club, the new Nike Hertha BSC 17-18 home kit is likely the best striped Nike jersey for the 2017-2018 season. We would love to see this for Inter, Barca or Atlético.

1 - Nike VfL Wolfsburg 17-18 Home Kit

Nike has released a lot of not very unique kits for the 2017-2018 season, but the new VfL Wolfsburg 2017-2018 home shirt is very outstanding. For us it is the best Bundesliga shirt od the 2017-18 season.

Which is the best 2017-2018 Bundesliga jersey? And which is the worst? Let us know in the comments below and check out all Bundesliga 2017-2018 kits in our special.

Schlotterbeck Deliberately Wears His Football Socks the Wrong Way Round

Borussia Dortmund and Germany defender Nico Schlotterbeck has a very specific habit regarding his matchday attire. The centre-back deliberately wears his football socks the wrong way round - the back is on the front, and the front is on the back.

In 2025, the Borussia Dortmund & Germany center back once told SPORT1 that this was one of his unique habits.

A Look Back at World Cup Shirt Number Typography

Football kit design account @PaladarNegroWeb has shared an interesting retrospective on the typography used for shirt numbers in recent World Cups. The visual language of football kits is often defined by these details, with fonts becoming instantly recognizable symbols of specific tournaments and eras.

The collage highlights various iconic typefaces worn by national teams on the biggest stage. spanning from the 2006 World Cup to the FIFA World Cup.

This overview is part of an ongoing series by the account exploring the visual elements of football. It serves as a great reminder of how deeply typography impacts the overall aesthetic and legacy of a football shirt.
