The French Ligue 1 kicked off this weekend. We analyze which kit brands dominate the first French division, revealing that there is no other Top 5 league with more different kit suppliers.
Battle Of Brands - 2018-2019 Ligue 1
This infographic by @planetafobal shows the kit maker of each club in France.
Puma makes the kits for five Ligue1 teams in the 2018-2019 season thanks to their new deals with Olympique Marseille and Amiens and the promotion of Nimes Olympique. Nike follows second with three teams (including PSG and AS Monaco), while Adidas and New Balance have to teams in their roster, respectively.
In total, there are 12 different kit makers present in the Ligue 1. There is no other Top 5 league with more different kit suppliers (e.g. Italian Serie A has 11, Premier League just has 6).
Just as in previous years, however, the biggest clubs in France are sponsored by the big brands - Nike makes the jerseys for AS Monaco & Paris Saint-Germain, Adidas produces the strips for Olympique Lyonnaises and Puma makes the jerseys for Olympique Marseille, Bordeaux & Stade Rennais. The smaller brands make the jerseys for the less important teams.
