Emirates to Leave PSG for Marseille?

Emirates could become Olympique Marseille's main sponsor next season, according to a recent report by Bloomberg.

It's appearing more and more likely that Paris Saint-Germain will sever ties with Emirates at the end of the current season. On one hand, there's the issue that the UAE is part of an alliance of gulf states that initiated a trade and travel embargo on Qatar, which owns PSG, last year. It's also been reported by L'Equipe that Paris asked Emirates to pay €80 million per season in order to extend the current deal, which expires in 2019, a demand which Emirates declined.

Meanwhile, Marseille's own jersey sponsor deal with Orange is also set to expire after the current season, which puts the club in a position to be viewed as a cheaper alternative for Emirates. Marseille didn't want to comment on the claims when asked by Bloomberg.

Marseille has been partnering with Orange for a long time, having first teamed up back in 1999. Just two years ago, Orange became the official naming rights partner for the club's Velodrome stadium.
