PSG Players Show Off All-New Nike Phantom GT Boots - Off-Center Lacing System + Rubber Elements Confirmed
- New Boot Debut: PSG players Cavani and Icardi were the first to wear the new Nike Phantom GT boots, replacing their usual Nike Phantom VNM cleats.
- Design Features: The Phantom GT boots have an off-center lacing system and rubber elements on the upper, designed to increase the striking zone.
- Phantom VNM Discontinued: Nike will discontinue the Nike Phantom VNM in favor of the new Phantom GT model.
Update: Better pictures of PSG's training session last week have emerged. They give a very good look at the design - including small but visible rubber pads on the upper. Thiago Silva also trained in the boots.
Paris Saint-Germain strikers Edison Cavani and Mauro Icardi have become the world's first players to be spotted wearing the brand-new Nike Phantom GT boots instead of their usual choice, the Nike Phantom VNM. Thanks to @chukdaejeonkr for the heads-up.
Just yesterday, we revealed that the all-new Nike Phantom GT will feature Predator-like rubber elements and Total 90-like off-center lacing system.
PSG Players Trains In Nike Phantom GT Soccer Cleats
The Nike Phantom GT football boots have a knitted upper with a synthetic overlay and a low collar. However, while all those elements are not pretty special. it is the lacing system that makes them as interesting.
The Nike Phantom GT have an off-center lacing system to provide a larger strike zone. The lacing system is as tight that there is almost no space between the "left and right" lacing holes - very interesting.
The rubber elements of the Nike Phantom GT are not really visible on the pictures - the final boot will have them, even though not as eye-catching as the Predator 20 soccer shoes.
This also means that the cleats worn by Neymar and Hazard are not the all-new Nike Phantom GT soccer cleat but another boot.
Stay tuned for more updates on Nike's brand-new 2020 football boots in the coming weeks.
