Liverpool Could Lift Premier League Title Wearing Nike Kit

The English Premier is interrupted until at least early April 2020 because of the Corona Coronavirus pandemic. The season is set to be extended beyond he usual end date of mid-May - could this see Liverpool FC finishing the season in Nike kits instead of the usual ones of New Balance?

Liverpool FC's Nike Deal Begins On June 1 2020

Currently, Liverpool's next fixture is slated for April 5. They would face Manchester City, which would see them gain the title with victory as a ‘six-pointer’.

Liverpool's contract with New Balance runs until May 30 2020, with their deal with Nike beginning on June 1 2020. This is earlier as other kit deals and contract with players, which usually run until June 30.

It is very likely that the season will stretch into the coming months, beyond the usual end date of mid-May, which could see football played into the summer. If that is the case, with Liverpool set to switch suppliers on the expiry of their contract with New Balance, they could wear an altogether different kit before the season’s end.

The Athletic‘s James Pearce has brought this topic intro ground, but did not have any more info than that the Nike deal starts on June 1, and that those deals usually should come into effect no matter that it is during the season.

There are various other jersey manufacturers deals that expire after the season. However, most of those other deals do not begin before June 30, including those of Celtic, Everton, Sunderland and Bordeaux. If the season of the respective clubs would be finished beyond June 30, they would face similar questions.

More about the Premier League's situation will be revealed on Thursday, with the Premier League holding a meeting to determine their next course of action during the coronavirus pandemic.
