Austin FC Could Receive Third Kit in 2022 - Club Likely Reached 100k Sales Threshold
Austin FC could join Atlanta United in receiving a third kit for the 2022 season, according to a report by fan site Capital City Soccer.
The club only joined MLS for the 2021 season, but reportedly sold massive amounts of merchandise, including a single-day record for shirt sales when the inaugural kit was unveiled on November 18, 2020 (via Forbes).
In case you missed it, Adidas brought back MLS third kits last year, but set a 100,000 shirt sale threshold for teams to become eligible, something that only Atlanta United managed to do last year.
So far, the possible Austin FC 2022 third kit is unconfirmed, but we do know that the club will launch a new away kit in January, with the inaugural home kit set to remain in use for another campaign.
No details about the Austin 2022 away kit are known today, but it's safe to assume that it will be light, likely white, to offer a good alternative to the darker home kit.
