Updated Women's Super League & Women's Championship Names & Logos Revealed - Barclays Now Title Sponsor of Both Leagues

The FA yesterday announced an updated sponsorship deal with Barclays, who now also become the title sponsor of the Women's Championship. With it, the FA also revealed updated names and logos for both competitions.

The Women's Super League is the highest division of women's football in England, while the Women's Championship is the second division. The Women's Super has been known as Barclays Women's Super League since 2019.

The Barclays FA Women's Super League is now just called "Barclays Women's Super League", while the second division is now called "Barclays Women’s Championship" (previously "FA Women's Championship").

The FA want the leagues to be under new ownership in the future

Dropping "The FA" from the league names is part of the long-term strategy for the leagues to be under new ownership in the future.

The visual identity of both leagues has been also refreshed. It is designed to reflect an increased interest in the women’s professional game, with the new brand aiming to present a more polished and premium look that stands out amongst the competition and better aligns the two leagues.

Kelly Simmons, the FA’s director of the women’s professional game, said: “We’ve seen tremendous strides made in the women’s professional game since it turned professional four years ago, which meant we needed a refreshed branding that reflected that progress.”
