Ligue 1 Players Are Now Allowed to Wear "Any" Number
If you have watched some of the opening matches of the 2022-2023 Ligue 1 season, you might have noticed a change in shirt numbers - players now have a much bigger freedom when it comes to the choice of their shirt number.
From the 2022-2023 season, all Ligue 1 players are allowed to freely choose any number from two to 99, with only number one being reserved for goalkeepers. Previously, players had to wear a number between 1-30 (1, 12, and 30 reserved for keepers), with some special exceptions.
Ligue 1 Players With Number Above 30 In 22-23 Season
Various players took the chance and took a number that would previously have been forbidden. The most famous player who changed shirt numbers is PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who switched from No. 50 to No. 99.
Tolisso's No. 88 caused some debate
Those who have made use of the new numbering rules in large numbers are the new signings of the club. Alexis Sanchez (No. 70), Alexandre Lacazette (No. 91), Breel Embolo (No. 36), and Mbemba (No. 99) are only a few signings who wear shirts with numbers above 30.
We will certainly see much many more high numbers in France's Ligue 1 in the future
It seems certain that we will see a lot more numbers above 30 in the future, with players apparently liking the freedom to choose high numbers.

Adidas Germany 'Alternate History' 1992 Collection Leaked
Update - Friday, May 22, 2026: Thanks to our follower @Julifu90, we have an image of the t-shirt of the Adidas Germany EQT 1992 retro collection. It is set to be released in the coming days.
We have the first image of a unique new Adidas Germany retro jacket, showcasing an intriguing new approach from the sportswear brand.
While the design instantly evokes strong nostalgia for the 1990s, this upcoming release is actually an "alternate history" creation. Despite its highly authentic vintage appearance and period-accurate details, this specific track jacket never actually existed in the official Adidas catalogues during the 1990s, making it a brand new addition to their retro-focused lifestyle collection.
To achieve this convincing old-school aesthetic, Adidas has utilized their classic 1992 template as the structural foundation for the design. The garment features a vibrant green base that heavily nods to Germany's traditional away kits of the era. The colors of the German national flag are cleverly completed on the sleeves through large geometric blocks that also recreate the 3 stripes.
The same jacket will also be released for Spain and other Adidas national teams.
