Aston Villa Launch Crest Vote With 2 Options
English Premier League club Aston Villa today revealed their all-new logo.
The new Aston Villa 2022 logo was decided via a fan vote of two options.
The process for the redesign of the Aston Villa crest and visual identity started in June 2022. Following a period of fan consultation, creative exploration and crafting, two crest designs were shortlisted. On Friday, November 4, season ticket holders and members were presented with both options and asked to vote for the one they would prefer to be the new Club crest.
Aston Villa 2022 Logo
The new Aston Villa FC logo pays homage to our 1982 European Cup triumph. It features a roundel and clean design with few but all important elements of the club.
The lion is in the center of the logo, accompanied by a star to commemorate the European Cup win of 1982. On the top of the crest is the club name, while the bottom has the year of foundation.
Compared to the old crest, the new Aston Villa 2022 logo has much less yellow. This should better fit the Claret & Blue.
Over 21,500 fans took part in the vote for the new Aston Villa 2022 logo.
Aston Villa Crest Logo Vote - Results
- 77% of fans voted for the round design
- 23% of fans voted for the gas lamp design
- 8% voted to keep the current crest
Aston Villa New Logo - What Happens Next
The current Aston Villa crest will remain in place for the remainder of the 2022-23 season, with the new crest officially replacing it for the 2023-24 season. The new Aston Villa logo will feature on next season’s kits, released next summer.
The crest redesign will now also be factored into an evolution of the rest of our visual identity.
