  • New Sponsor: Vodafone will replace 1&1 Ionos as Dortmund's front-of-shirt sponsor starting in the 2025-26 season.
  • Contract Details: The partnership between Dortmund and Vodafone is set to last for five seasons, concluding in 2030.
  • Kit Reveal: Dortmund revealed a glimpse of their 2025-26 home kit featuring the Vodafone logo in a monochrome design.

Update: Confirming previous leaks, Dortmund has officially announced a new partnership with Vodafone starting from the 2025-26 season, replacing 1&1 Ionos as the front-of-shirt sponsor. The agreement will run until 2030.

1&1 Ionos has been BVB's sponsor since the 2020-21 season, and the upcoming 2024-25 season is the last under the current contract. Negotiations between 1&1 Ionos and BVB have been quite difficult.

Vodafone Becomes the New Front-of-Shirt Sponsor for Dortmund From the 2025-26 Season

Beginning with the 2025-26 season, Vodafone will become Dortmund's new FOS sponsor. The deal between the two parties will span five seasons, concluding in 2030.

In the announcement video, Dortmund also revealed a glimpse of their new 2025-26 home kit, in which the Vodafone logo appears in a monochrome variant to match the overall design.

Currently, 1&1 Ionos serves as Dortmund’s front-of-shirt sponsor. The tech and telecommunications brand has been featured on BVB shirts since the 2020-21 season, making 2024-25 the fifth and likely final season under the current deal.

It’s unclear whether 1&1 will remain involved in another capacity or exit the club partnership entirely.

National Team Crest Evolutions

Renowned football designer Emilio Sansolini (@EmilioSansolini) has published a comprehensive visual overview highlighting the evolution of national team crests around the world. Titled 'Then & Now', the graphics showcase dozens of international football federations, comparing their previous badges directly with their current modern redesigns.

The visual collection covers major footballing nations alongside smaller federations across all major continental confederations. High-profile rebrands featured in the comparison include France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Brazil, Mexico, and the United States, illustrating the widespread shift toward minimalist aesthetics, modernized heraldry, and sleeker digital styling over the past decade.

While many modern redesigns aim to create cleaner, more scalable digital logos, fan reactions to these visual shifts remain mixed. Minimalist updates for nations like Spain, Mexico, and South Korea have often sparked debate regarding traditional heritage versus modern branding, whereas updates for federations such as Iceland, Costa Rica, and Venezuela have generally received praise for introducing fresh identity concepts.
