Problem With Köln Kit: Sponsor Logo Peels Off Köln 25-26 Third Kit

  • Logo Issue: The sponsor logo, REWE, peeled off Marius Bülter's FC Köln third kit during a Bundesliga match.
  • Application Error: The issue is attributed to incorrect temperature, pressure, or time during the heat-pressing of the logo, rather than a manufacturing defect.
  • Isolated Incident: The problem appeared to be isolated to a single shirt, as other players' logos remained intact, suggesting an error by the club's kitman team.

A notable quality issue was spotted on the new Hummel FC Köln 2025-26 third kit during the club's Bundesliga match against Mainz 05 yesterday. The main sponsor logo, "REWE", was seen peeling away from the shirt of striker Marius Bülter. Thanks to @jxnas_180 for the heads-up.

Sponsor Logo Peels Off Köln 25-26 Third Kit

As you can see in the images, the heat-applied "REWE" sponsor logo on Marius Bülter's jersey began to detach from the black fabric of the new Hummel third kit. The letters "REWE" are clearly seen lifting and peeling away, creating an unprofessional look for the team and sponsor.

This type of issue is typically attributed to an insufficient application of the sponsor logo, likely due to incorrect temperature, pressure, or time during the heat-pressing process.

This is not a manufacturing defect with the Hummel kit itself, but rather a clear issue with the application of the sponsor logo. It seems the heat press was likely not applied with sufficient temperature, pressure, or time, causing the adhesive to fail, especially after the player started sweating during the game.

This type of error typically falls on the club's kitman team, who are responsible for preparing the match-day shirts.

It is important to note that this appeared to be an isolated incident. The sponsor logos on the kits of all other FC Köln players remained perfectly intact throughout the match. This reinforces the conclusion that it was an application error on a single shirt, rather than a widespread problem with the logos or shirts from Hummel.
