Adidas Updates Material of National Team Kits to Fix Bad Breathability
- Material Update: Adidas updated the Japanese national team kits with better 'breathing' fabric, identical to that of Argentina's.
- Fabric Issues: Adidas' kit material has been criticized for underperforming compared to Nike's Dri-Fit ADV technology.
- New Technology: Adidas will introduce Climacool+ technology in 2026 to address fabric issues, with Argentina receiving their new World Cup kit featuring this technology in November 2025.
Update: The Japanese national team was apparently also unhappy with the material Adidas provided for their 2024 national team kits. Therefore, the nation received exclusive shirts with better 'breathing" fabric, which were worn in the latest international window. It is the same material given to Argentina.
For several years, we have been saying that Adidas' kit material is suboptimal, especially against Nike's Dri-Fit ADV technology. For 2026, Adidas will release a new kit fabric, called Climacool+, set to fix these problems - for the Argentine national team, it was apparently not early enough.

For the latest matches, the Argentine national team has reverted to a different fabric than the regular kit. The Albiceleste has had the fabric of its current 2024 home kit changed to the same/a similar one as used during the 2018-2020 period.
Sources suggest that the previous material was deemed to underperform in terms of moisture wicking and movement support. Adidas already changed the material for the 2024-2025 club kits, possibly because of the problems.
