Sheffield Wednesday to Return to Old Logo?

  • Logo Change: Sheffield Wednesday updated their logo on social media mid-season to the old owl crest, following the club's bankruptcy and placement under special administration.
  • Financial Misconduct: Chairman Dejphon Chansiri was charged with financial misconduct, leading to unpaid players and the freezing of club assets.
  • Fan Response: Fans boycotted merchandise due to dissatisfaction with the ownership but rallied to raise funds after the club entered special administration and the old crest was restored on social media.

Sheffield Wednesday have changed their logo midway through the 2025-26 Championship season on social media, following their declaration of bankruptcy and placement under special administration.

Sheffield Wednesday Updates Logo on Social Mid-Season Following Bankruptcy

The club’s situation had been chaotic for months. Since March 2025, players had gone unpaid, while chairman Dejphon Chansiri was charged by the EFL with financial misconduct, leading to the freezing of club assets.

Sheffield did not announce anything about the change of logos on social media

Supporters, furious with the ownership, boycotted official merchandise despite Wednesday’s highly praised 2025–26 kits. After Chansiri’s removal and the club’s entry into special administration, fans rallied once again, raising around £200,000 through merchandise sales.

Alongside this revival came the return of the club’s classic owl crest on social media, replacing the logo introduced under Chansiri’s reign.

The website still displays the usual crest

The club did not announce whether they will return to the old owl crest permanently, or if it was just for social media to reflect the change of ownership.
