Bundesliga to Introduce Debut Kit Patch for 2026-27 Season
- Debut Patch Introduction: The Bundesliga will introduce a Debut Patch for players' first-ever Bundesliga appearance starting in the 2026-27 season.
- MLS Influence: The Debut Patch is modeled after a similar system introduced in MLS, where players wear the patch during their debut match.
- Trading Card Integration: After the debut match, the worn patch will be removed and embedded into a special trading card for that player by DFL partner Topps.
The Bundesliga is set to launch a new Debut Patch from the 2026-27 season, following the model already used in MLS. According to Bild, all 36 professional clubs approved the change at the latest DFL meeting in Frankfurt.

The patch will be worn only once — during a player’s first-ever Bundesliga appearance — and then removed after the match. DFL partner Topps will later embed the match-worn patch into a special trading card for that player.
