Big news for Europe’s smaller footballing nations? Adidas could become the new official supplier for the UEFA Kit Assistance Scheme for the upcoming 2026-2030 cycle. An official announcement could be made very soon.

The biggest hint regarding this major brand switch came recently when the Kosovo national team - one of the beneficiaries of the UEFA program - unexpectedly showed off a brand-new Adidas kit.

Historically, nations under the scheme all share the same manufacturer. With Kosovo making the sudden jump to the Three Stripes, it could be that Adidas has won the rights to supply the collective group of smaller European nations. Adidas would be replacing Italian brand Erreà, which held the contract for the 2022-2026 cycle.

What is the UEFA Kit Assistance Scheme?

First launched in 2007, the UEFA Kit Assistance Scheme is a solidarity program designed to support some of Europe’s smaller participating football associations. Based on actual need and voluntary participation, UEFA steps in to effectively procure kits for the collective benefit of these federations.

• 10 Nations: The scheme currently provides full backing for 10 UEFA Member Associations.
• Complete Gear: The supplier must provide jerseys, shorts, socks, tracksuits, and functional undergarments for the senior men's, women's, and youth teams.
• The 2026-30 Cycle: In late 2024, UEFA officially launched the RFP (Request for Proposals) process seeking a new supplier for the 2026-2030 commercial cycle. The winner of the tender has still not been announced.

For the 10 nations involved (which traditionally includes the likes of Andorra, Belarus, Cyprus, Faroe Islands, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, San Marino, and Kosovo, among others), a switch to a heavyweight brand like Adidas would be a massive upgrade in terms of global brand recognition.

If Adidas won the tender, they would likely provide these nations with their semi-custom Locker Room (formerly miTeam) templates. Erreà provided bespoke kits.
