Too Wide: The Glaring Shoulder Design Flaw in Nike's New 2026 Authentic Kits
- Shoulder Design Flaw: Nike's new 2026 Federation kits have a shoulder design that is too wide for many players, causing the shoulder seams to extend past their natural shoulder lines.
- Poorly Fitted Appearance: The reinforced seam connecting the sleeve to the torso creates a stiff, protruding peak that resembles a poorly fitted suit jacket.
- Awkward Proportions: The wide-shoulder phenomenon, combined with short sleeves and gaping necklines, makes the 2026 Nike Authentic template awkwardly proportioned.
Following the first matches of the international break of the year, a very clear pattern has emerged regarding the brand-new Nike 2026 Federation kits.
A Template Built for the One Body Type Only?
The shoulder width of the new Nike template is simply too wide for many players.
As seen across multiple national teams over the past week, including France's Ousmane Dembélé and Uruguay's Maximiliano Araújo & Federico Valverde, the structured shoulder seams of the new Nike AeroFit shirts are consistently extending way past many players' natural shoulder lines.
Because the seam connecting the sleeve to the torso is heavily reinforced and sits so high up on the collarbone, it refuses to drape naturally. Instead, it creates a stiff, protruding peak that looks exactly like a poorly fitted suit jacket.
For Rashford, the shoulder width was a perfect fit.
The Verdict
This wide-shoulder phenomenon, combined with the incredibly short sleeves and gaping necklines we reported on earlier this week, makes the 2026 Nike Authentic template one of the most awkwardly proportioned elite kits in recent memory.
Have you noticed the wide "shoulder pad" effect on other players during this international break? Do you think Nike miscalculated the proportions of their new 2026 Authentic template? Let us know in the comments below.
