New Marseille Logo Concept - Better Than Official?
- Official Logo Redesign: Olympique de Marseille launched a heavily minimalist new logo, ending a 22-year era, but it faced backlash from fans who felt it lacked the club's historic essence.
- Fan-Made Concept Logo: A fan-made OM concept logo went viral, with many fans considering it superior to the official logo because it retains the sharp, recognizable serif details of the 'M'.
- Concept's Status: Despite its positive reception, the fan-created concept logo will not be used on official Olympique de Marseille merchandise.
Recently, Olympique de Marseille officially unveiled a brand-new logo and visual identity, marking the end of a 22-year era for their previous crest. As we detailed during the launch, the new official crest took a heavily minimalist approach.
However, the official redesign quickly faced significant backlash from the fanbase, with many supporters feeling that the extreme simplification stripped away the familiar and historic essence of the club's brand.
New Marseille Logo Concept
Now, a fan-made OM concept logo has gone viral across social media, and many fans are arguing that it is vastly superior and more visually impressive than the actual new badge.
At first glance, the concept logo adopts the exact same modernized structural layout as the new official crest.
It features a clean outer circle, an inner circular frame, the prominent 'M', and the iconic 'Droit au But' motto elegantly curved at the bottom in gold.
This framing undeniably gives the crest a much more contemporary and tidy look compared to the older, uncontained 2004 logo.
However, the crucial difference, and the reason fans love this concept, lies in the design of the central 'M'.
Instead of using the somewhat strange, bubbly, and overly simplistic 'M' of the official new logo, the concept acts as a true "modernization" of the classic crest.
It retains the sharp, recognizable serif details and the aggressive points of the 'M' that fans have identified with for over two decades. It perfectly bridges the gap between preserving club heritage and updating the brand for the modern era.
Concept Only
Of course, it is important to remember that this is strictly a fan-created concept design. Despite the overwhelming positive reception it has received online, it will not appear on any official Olympique de Marseille kits, training gear, or merchandise next season.
