Sheffield Wednesday to Return to Classic Owl Logo
- Logo Change: Sheffield Wednesday is surveying season ticket holders to choose between the current crest and the classic minimalist owl logo for the club's badge.
- Ownership Change: Following the acquisition by Arise Capital Partners, led by David Storch, Sheffield Wednesday is reviewing its identity, including a potential logo change, marking the end of Dejphon Chansiri's controversial ownership.
- Fan Consultation: English FA regulations mandate fan consultation before changes to a club's crest or home kit colors to protect club heritage, ensuring fan consent for historic branding alterations.
Sheffield Wednesday is set to change their club badge. The club has sent out a survey to season ticket holders asking for their preference between the current crest and the classic minimalist owl design.

In an email sent to fans, the club states that they are reviewing elements of their identity ahead of potential changes in ownership. Season ticket holders are being asked to complete a short, one-question survey to directly choose which of the two badges they personally prefer moving forward.
The vote pits the current traditional shield against the iconic minimalist owl. The current crest features a detailed owl perched on a branch, the White Rose of York, and the Latin motto "Consilio et Animis". The alternative option is the fan-favorite minimalist owl graphic, a highly recognizable design that was predominantly used by the club from the 1970s until 2016.
Indeed, following the long-awaited takeover of the US consortium Arise Capital Partners, led by David Storch, the club changed their logo on social media and in other graphics, practically confirming that the crest change is almost here.
The takeover officially ends the highly controversial tenure of former owner Dejphon Chansiri, whose reign saw the club enter administration amid severe financial mismanagement, unpaid wages, points deductions, and relegation to League One.
English Football Association (FA) regulations make fan consultation mandatory before any changes to a club's crest or recognized home kit colors. Introduced to protect club heritage, these rules ensure that ownership cannot unilaterally alter historic branding without thorough and extensive fan consent.
