FC Barcelona Unveils New Camp Nou

Update: FC Barcelona these days presented more details on the massive refurbishment of its Camp Nou home, including a video detailing the timetable for the construction.

FC Barcelona this evening announced that the bid by Nikken Sekkei + Pascual i Ausió Arquitectes team has won the tender for the revamp of the iconic Camp Nou stadium. A panel consisting of five FC Barcelona members, three members of the Catalan architectural chamber and one member of the Barcelona city council, unanimously selected the joint bid.

'New' Camp Nou

The almost complete overhaul of the Camp Nou stadium is set to be carried out between 2017 and 2022 and will see the capacity rise to a staggering 105,000. All four sides of the Camp Nou will be of the same height, while a fully-covered roof will protect supporters from adverse weather conditions.

"The Nikken Sekkei + Pascual i Ausió Arquitectes proposal stands out for being open, elegant, serene, timeless Mediterranean and democratic."
