AS Roma Secure Full Approval for New €1 Billion Pietralata Stadium
AS Roma's decades-long pursuit of a state-of-the-art stadium of their own has reached a decisive breakthrough. The club's ambitious new venue in Rome's Pietralata district has officially cleared all administrative hurdles after receiving unanimous approval from the decisive Services Conference. The green light paves the way for the Giallorossi to eventually depart the municipal Stadio Olimpico, their home shared with Lazio since 1953, and transition into a privately owned, purpose-built football ground.
Designed by global sports architecture firm Populous, the arena will boast a capacity of 60,605 seats. A centerpiece of the design is a massive single-tier Curva Sud holding around 23,000 spectators, engineered to replicate the atmosphere of a classic European terrace and rank among the largest single stands on the continent. The exterior reflects classical Roman architecture through distinctive vertical fins, while the surrounding 27-hectare masterplan incorporates nearly 12 hectares of public parkland, pedestrian squares, and direct transit access via Roma Tiburtina and Quintiliani metro station.
Backed by an investment exceeding €1 billion from the Friedkin family, groundwork and construction are scheduled to kick off in spring 2027, coinciding with AS Roma's centenary year. With opening targeted between 2029 and 2031, the venue is poised to become a marquee host stadium for UEFA Euro 2032 while functioning year-round to transform the club's financial and commercial footprint.

New Newcastle United Crest & Bespoke St. James' Park Stadium Logo Spotted Outside Ground
Following the official unveiling of Newcastle United's evolved club crest, physical changes have already begun appearing around St James' Park. New perimeter walls and signage outside the stadium now showcase the refined crest alongside bold black-and-white block lettering spelling out "NEWCASTLE UNITED". The updated badge, which modernizes the 1988 design while retaining the iconic castle, shield, and seahorses, is being progressively rolled out across the club's physical and digital platforms ahead of its debut on playing kits for the 27-28 season. Thanks to @DomScurr.
Alongside the club badge, a brand-new venue logo specifically created for St James' Park has also been installed. Mounted on the brick walls along Barrack Road near the Milburn Stand, the sharp geometric emblem is inspired by the stadium's famous cantilevered glass roof structures built between 1999 and 2000. Paired with a modernized bespoke typeface, this venue mark replaces a decade-old stadium logo and establishes a distinct visual identity for the ground as both a football home and an entertainment destination.
Newcastle United Deny Adidas Stadium Sponsorship Rumors
Speculation surfaced online suggesting that Newcastle United were in discussions with kit supplier Adidas regarding a potential stadium sponsorship deal for St James' Park. The German sportswear brand already has a major presence across the stadium following the launch of their lucrative kit partnership, featuring branding across the stands and stadium facilities.
However, reports linking Adidas to an official stadium sponsorship deal have been swiftly shot down. According to Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards, Newcastle United are not in talks with the three stripes brand over stadium naming or presenting rights, with club sources strongly denying any Adidas involvement in such negotiations.
While Adidas is ruled out, Newcastle are actively in preliminary talks with other international commercial partners for a stadium sponsorship agreement. The club's commercial leadership aims to drive substantial revenue growth in the coming years while maintaining the historic St James' Park name alongside any prospective sponsor.
