Liverpool WON'T Wear Their New 2018-19 Kit in The Champions League Final - Here is Why

Update: Liverpool debuted their new 2018-19 home kit in the last Premier League match of the season today. They will revert to their 2017-18 home shirt for the 2018 Champions League final.

Liverpool will wear this season’s home kit against Real Madrid in the Champions League final, it has been revealed. This comes by quite surprise as Liverpool will wear next season's 2018-19 home kit in Sunday’s final Premier League clash against Brighton at Anfield.

Liverpool To Wear This Season's Home Kit In Champions League Final

While Liverpool debuts its 2018-2019 home shirt in the last Premier League match of the 2017-18 season, they will revert back to this season’s New Balance version for the Champions League Final against Real Madrid. Real Madrid will wear the 2017-18 home kit as well.

Under UEFA rules, clubs have to state at the start of each season which kits they will use in the competition and changes can’t be made. It is reported that Liverpool believe it’s only right that they wear the same kit which they have worn en route to the final.

Interestingly, there have been quite a few teams in the past who used next season's kit in a Champions League final (e.g. Bayern in 2013, Chelsea in 2008 against Manchester United).

The Liverpool 2017-18 home shirt was the biggest seller in club history. The club have long since sold out report the Liverpool Echo.
