Custom Hand-Embroidered Mexico 2024 Home Kit
The base garment is an authentic Adidas Mexico 2024 home jersey, famous for its rich maroon background and repeating peacock-feather pattern inspired by Mexican and Mayan folk iconography. Taking direct inspiration from the sublimated graphics, the grandfather individually outlined dozens of the teardrop and horseshoe feather shapes on the front of the shirt using colorful embroidery threads.
The added stitching introduces a brilliant spectrum of hues across the chest, including vivid yellow, turquoise blue, magenta, white, purple, and green. By working raised thread directly into the performance polyester around the Mexico crest and Adidas performance logo, the traditionally flat sublimated print is elevated into an exquisite, three-dimensional textured piece.
Handcrafted needlework holds deep cultural significance across Mexico, and this custom piece mirrors recent official artistic initiatives from Adidas.
Ahead of the 2024 Copa América, Adidas teamed up with Mexican social enterprise Someone Somewhere to create ultra-limited hand-embroidered editions of Mexico's home and away shirts, crafted by indigenous artisans from the Sierra Norte of Puebla where each piece took over 11 hours to complete.
While the official Puebla artisan editions were created as rare commemorative pieces, this personal custom project carries a special warmth of its own. It transforms a standard retail match jersey into a completely irreplaceable family heirloom that celebrates both Mexican heritage and unconditional dedication.
