Nike to Release More Fourth Kits in 2019-20

On Saturday, it became known that Nike would release a fourth kit for Barcelona next season. Said kit, inspired by the Catalan flag, will be worn in the most important games such as the Clásico.

Today, we can reveal that Barcelona will not be the only team to receive more than the usual three kits from Nike next season. As companies have to invest more and more in order to land major sponsorships, pressure grows to generate additional revenue from these 'mega teams'.

It was actually Adidas who started this, releasing special-edition and limited kits for its 'elite teams' as early as in 2016, when they dropped the Bayern Munich and Real Madrid Parley kits. More recently, Adidas have mostly released retro-inspired limited-edition 'fourth' kits that were not actually worn on-pitch.

Nike joined the party later, releasing both kits that were used on-pitch and those that weren't. More and more mash-up shirts are expected to be released, and only recently the France Centenary kit got leaked.

PSG also had four kits this season thanks to their two Champions League exclusive Jordan uniforms. Barcelona will have had five kits by the end of this season (home, away, third, mash-up, 'Clásico'), or even six, if you count the 'NFL Jersey'.

Next season, Nike will further expand this to more teams, and the kits will be worn on-pitch as well.

We will soon bring you more details on which teams will receive fourth kits from Nike next season, as well as the kits themselves.
