Spain To Stay With Adidas After All

In May 2019, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and its president Luis Rubiales announced in quite shocking news that the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) would end its tiers with long-term Adidas. Now Spanish newspaper Marca reports that "a truce has now been reached in the war over La Roja's shirt for Euro 2020".

The Effects Of An Unexpected Divorce of Spain and Adidas: A New Euro 2020 Shirt Needed And A 100 Million Euro Fine

Marca says that it now appears likely that there will be a new agreement fairly soon. The reason for that would be the "100 million euros compensatory payment that would have needed to be made if La Roja had pursued an alternative kit manufacturer." Therefore, and also because Spain (and the new kit supplier) would have had no much time to design, promote and produce an non-Adidas EURO 2020 kit, Adidas will make Spain's EURO 2020 shirts,

As recently as in September, there was an advertising campaign which saw several Spanish internationals mysteriously left out of (Isco, Alvaro Morata and Koke). However, that advertising campaign in fact did promote the upcoming shirt design.

It's expected that Spain will debut its new Adidas EURO 2020 kit in the November matches against Malta and Romania. Marca has also learned that there are already ideas regarding new kits for the Spain women's national team.

The current Adidas Spain deal runs until 2026. According to Marca, Adidas are eager to find a new agreement.
