New Premier League Club Norwich City Ends BK8 Kit Sponsor Deal After Just 3 Days & Fan Protests

Three days ago, newly promoted Premier League team Norwich City announced a deal with BK8, a betting firm from Asia. Now following protests, the club announced the mutual termination of the club’s commercial partnership with BK8.

BK8 made sexist videos for marketing

BK8 uses videos of women carrying out activities with a clear sexual innuendo. The Asian betting firm just has 200 Twitter followers and an Instagram page that is basically soft porn.

Norwich Ends Deal With Sexist Betting Firm BK8

The club and BK8 have taken on board feedback from its supporters and partners, and after continued discussions, we have agreed to immediately end the partnership.

Norwich City’s chief operating officer, Ben Kensell, said: “We have worked hard to build trust and engagement through our countless initiatives with our supporters and partners. We place huge value on our open and honest relationships with our community and supporters.

“As a self-financed club there is always a fine balance between generating the revenue levels required to help maintain that model, whilst working within our visions and values.

“On this occasion, we made an error of judgement. Our standards were not at the levels we demand of our football club.

“We can now only apologise to our supporters and former players, Grant Holt and Darren Eadie, who were across the BK8 promotional launch campaign, for any offence caused.

Norwich will have another new main shirt sponsor"

Before the deal was canceled, Norwich tried to diminish the protests by forcing BK8 to delete sexist images.

A Norwich City spokesman said on the day after the deal: "Norwich City are aware of a series of marketing posts across the social media accounts of our new principal partners, BK8. The club worked swiftly with BK8 to remove the posts following the announcement of the new partnership."

Norwich also announced that "a further update on a replacement shirt sponsor will follow in due course."
