Special Permission by Premier League: Brighton Wear Yellow & Blue Kit at Home Vs Liverpool

Brighton & Hove Albion faced Liverpool at home not wearing their blue and white home kit but their yellow & blue third kit, in support of Ukraine. It comes with the same colors as the Ukrainian flag.

Premier League rules usually only allow teams to wear their home kit at home

As per official Equipment regulations, Premier League do only allow teams to wear their home kit at home. Brighton certainly got special permission from the league to do so.

In November 2021, Premier League refused clubs to wear away/third kits at home on Boxing Day for homeless charity.

The Seagulls will donate all profit from future sales of the strip to the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

Deputy chairman and chief executive Paul Barber said, “We continue to be horrified by the events in Ukraine and wish to show our support for all those affected. We reiterate the many calls for peace.

“We were proud to wear yellow and blue in both matches last weekend, and felt the gesture of changing the colours for our home fixtures this weekend would further amplify the message and continue to show our solidarity with all those suffering as a result of this terrible conflict.”

Sunderland Wear Yellow & Blue Away Kit in League One

Sunderland A.F.C. did also wear their yellow and blue away kit in the League One game at home against Crewe Alexandra. They did so to raise money for Ukraine.

After the game, the players will sign their shirts before they're auctioned with the money raised going to help people in Ukraine.

The Sunderland Women’s team will wear the same kit in their match against Arsenal in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League tomorrow.
