Everton and Southampton to Stay With Hummel?

After Hummel's distributor in the UK, Elite Sports Group, went into administration last November, the first effects have been felt in English football. Bristol City, under contract with Hummel, released a new set of kits mid-season, made by rival brand O'Neills.

What will happen with Hummel's two Premier League clubs? Today we take a look at the facts.

Hummel's Future in the Premier League

Hummel's biggest UK clubs, Everton, are not directly affected by ESG's problems, as their distribution is handled by Fanatics. This means the Toffees have no reason to terminate the Hummel partnership mid-season.

Due to still having a functioning distributor, we doubt Everton will leave Hummel over ESG going into administration.

Things do not look quite as good for fellow Premier League side Southampton. The Saints are only in their second season of a five-year contract with Hummel, however, they have lost the production of their kits since Elite Sports Group were unable to deliver.

Bristol City, also supplied by Elite Sports Group, did not want to take the risk of running out of shirts to sell. Many other smaller UK clubs could end up facing the same problems. Coventry City meanwhile decided to stay with Hummel, signing with a different UK distributor called SportsPro.

Another factor that may trouble Southampton is the production of their 23-24 kits, which is due to start around this time of year. Southampton will have to make a decision on the matter soon.

As pointed out by HITC, it would be interesting to see Southampton change shirt supplier during the season. This would be a first in the Premier League, having a team receive a completely new set of kits from a different manufacturer during a single season.
