FC Barcelona to Extend Spotify Kit Sponsor Deal
- Sponsorship Extension: FC Barcelona is poised to extend its lucrative front-of-shirt sponsorship agreement with Spotify, as reported by a reliable kit expert.
- Negotiating a New Contract: Instead of activating the old extension clause, Barcelona aims to negotiate a new, more profitable contract with Spotify, potentially valuing the shirt sponsorship at €120 million per season due to the club's increased global value.
- El Clásico Artist Logo: The tradition of showcasing an artist's logo for El Clásico will continue, with the Barcelona 2025-26 home kit featuring a special artist or band logo instead of the Spotify logo for the October 26 match against Real Madrid.
FC Barcelona is set to extend its main front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with the music streaming giant Spotify. This is according to Barcelona kit expert @memorabilia1899.
FC Barcelona to Extend Spotify Kit Sponsor Deal
The current agreement between Barcelona and Spotify began in the 2022-23 season and will end in the 2025–26 season. Both parties have the option to extend the contract after four years of a highly successful partnership.
The original agreement saw Spotify paying around €65-70 million per year for the shirt sponsorship, in addition to the naming rights for the stadium. The contract included an option to extend until 2030 with a moderate increase in payment.
However, according to reports from the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona believes the club's global value has increased significantly since 2022. The club now estimates the shirt sponsorship alone could be worth up to €120 million per season. This suggests that the club and Spotify are negotiating a brand new, more lucrative contract rather than simply triggering the old extension clause.
El Clásico Artist Logo Tradition to Continue
The same source, @memorabilia1899, also reports that the popular tradition of featuring an artist's logo for El Clásico will continue this season. For the first Clásico of the season against Real Madrid on October 26, the Barcelona 2025-26 home kit will feature the logo of a special artist or band in place of the standard Spotify logo.
This follows successful and highly popular collaborations in previous seasons with global music superstars like Drake, Rosalía, The Rolling Stones, and Karol G.
The partnership between Barcelona and Spotify has been a great success, merging the worlds of football and music. This extension will see that relationship continue for years to come.
