Nike Magista Prototypes

This video shows some of the Nike Magista Boot Prototypes.

It was not the original plan to make the Nike Magista Boot with FlyKnit. The first prototypes are showing an upper material which looks similar as the NikeSkin used for the Hypervenom. During the research, Nike found out that the only material which provides the needed touch, stability and fit would be the Nike FlyKnit technology, which was firstly used for running shoes.

The first Nike Magista Football Boot prototype features a striking heel design, while the upper material looks completely different from the final boot design. The upper features the Nike FlyWire technology, which was introduced in 2008 and is made to minimize weight and maximize stability. Additionally, the first prototype is the only Nike Magista development version which features only two studs at the heel.

It was planned to release the Magista as next-generation of the Nike CTR Maestri Boot.

The second prototype comes with an interesting heel design, which would have been completely different from any other football boot. The upper looks similar as the Hypervenom upper material.

In the upcoming months, Nike made the first experiments with the FlyKnit technology and the included sockliners. After the first boot prototypes looked totally different than the final product design, the dark green boot features the same remarkable elements as the Nike Magista Boot: A knitted upper, no tongue and included sockliners.

The following boot prototypes bring are showing a more common heel design, while the upper FlyKnit material and the included sockliners were changed only slightly. An orange boot prototype features noticeable Nike Flywire elements.

The final Nike Magista Football Boot design features the lettering Maestri - It was planned to release the Magista as next-generation of the Nike CTR Maestri Boot. Approximately one year ahead of the launch, Nike decided to make them a totally new silo, the Nike Magista. Therefore, Nike registered the trademark 'Magista', while the further procedure is a common knowledge.
