Dortmund to Vary Main Sponsor With Every Match at FIFA Club World Cup?

  • Sponsor Variation: Dortmund may alternate between Evonik and Vodafone as their main sponsor during the FIFA Club World Cup.
  • Vodafone Debut: Vodafone's logo unexpectedly debuted on Dortmund's jersey in the FIFA Club World Cup match against Mamelodi Sundowns, earlier than the initially expected date of July 1, 2025.
  • Kit and Sponsor Contingency: Dortmund's choice of sponsor (Evonik or Vodafone) during the Club World Cup knockout phase depends on whether they qualify as group winners or runners-up, determining whether the match falls in June or July.

Update: BVB debuted the Vodafone logo in today's FIFA Club World Cup match against Mamelodi Sundowns. It will be interesting to see if they will return to Evonik for the next matchday - we could see Dortmund varying the main sponsor between Evonik and Vodafone in every match.

Update: Dortmund will already debut the Vodafone logo in the match against Mamelodi Sundowns tomorrow, it has been disclosed by the club on their website. This comes pretty unexpectedly as everyone assumed that the Vodafone deal would only become valid from 1 July 2025.

On the second match day of the FIFA Club World Cup, BVB is officially the guest team, and their opponents from South Africa can choose which colors they play in: traditionally, this will be yellow shirts, blue shorts, and white socks, modeled on the Brazilian national team. BVB will therefore switch to their “white field” jersey. In addition, main sponsor Vodafone will now have its logo on the chest of the jersey; the logo will be red on the white jerseys of Borussia Dortmund. Of course, the principle announced when the partnership was announced still applies: “Black belongs on yellow” – a black Vodafone logo on the yellow home jerseys.

An interesting and rather unusual sponsorship situation is developing at Borussia Dortmund for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. BVB will possibly wear logos from both their outgoing sponsor, Evonik, and their new incoming sponsor, Vodafone.

Dortmund Have Two Different Sponsors at FIFA Club World Cup?

The new partnership with Vodafone has been announced, but does only starts on 1 July 2025, while the Evonik deal runs until 30 June 2025. Therefore, BVB has to wear Evonik in all June games and Vodafone in all July games.

It is not certain that Dortmund will play in the Club World Cup in July. All group matches take place in June. BVB must reach the knockout phase — if they qualify as runners-up in Group F, they will play their knockout match on 30 June with Evonik on the front. However, if they reach the knockout phase as group stage winners, they will definitely play with Vodafone on 1 July. They will also use Vodafone in all possible further matches.

South Africa Debut Silver Adidas Climacool Cooling Jacket At 2026 World Cup

South Africa debuted the new Adidas Climacool cooling jacket in a striking silver colorway at the 2026 World Cup. The look evoked memories of spacesuits.

The Adidas Climacool system is engineered specifically to lower core body temperature and improve heat tolerance in hot and humid conditions - exactly the kind of environment teams face at a summer World Cup in the USA and Mexico. The system consists of three components: a cooling vest, jacket and overshoe, with the vest worn over the player's jersey containing a specialised gel that is frozen before use and slowly thaws to keep players cool as they prepare to take the pitch.

FIFA Orders Egypt to Remove 7 Stars From 2026 World Cup Kit And Change Numbers Color

FIFA has instructed the Egyptian Football Association to remove the seven stars from their 2026 World Cup kit. The stars, which represent Egypt's record seven Africa Cup of Nations victories, violate FIFA's strict equipment regulations for the tournament. Under these rules, stars displayed on national team jerseys at the World Cup are exclusively reserved for nations that have won the FIFA World Cup.

In addition to the removal of the stars, FIFA has directed Egypt to change the color of the player names and numbers on their shirts. The original design featured gold lettering, which FIFA deemed insufficient for broadcast visibility, requiring the team to switch to white text instead.
