Goodbye Adidas? Algeria Launches Official Tender for New Kit Supplier
- New Kit Tender: The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has begun accepting bids for a new sportswear supplier, signaling a potential end to their partnership with Adidas.
- Dissatisfaction with Adidas: The FAF is reportedly unhappy with Adidas due to a lack of custom design, especially concerning the latest away kit which was seemingly ignored by the team.
- Potential Bidders: While Nike is unlikely to bid, Puma has been rumored to be a potential candidate, and it is uncertain if Adidas will try to retain the contract with an improved offer.
The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has officially started the process to find a new sportswear supplier, putting their current partnership with Adidas in serious doubt.
Algeria 2026 Kit Tender
According to an official tender document published in the local press, the FAF has launched a national and international call for brands to take over the national team's kits. Interested manufacturers have been given a strict 10-day window to submit their technical and financial offers before the sealed bids are publicly opened.
This major development follows growing rumors of a rift between Algeria and its current kit maker. The federation was reportedly dissatisfied with the lack of bespoke design effort from the Three Stripes, particularly regarding their latest away kit. The away shirt received no official launch photography featuring the players and was notably ignored by the team during recent friendlies against Panama and Uruguay.
With Nike seemingly unlikely to enter the bidding war, rumors earlier this year heavily linked Puma with a return to the Algerian national team. It remains to be seen if Adidas will submit a new, improved proposal to salvage the relationship or if Algeria will indeed switch to a rival brand.

New York City Releases 50 USD Handmade 2026 World Cup Jerseys
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has launched a limited-run, affordable NYC-inspired jersey to celebrate the 2026 World Cup. Priced at just 50 USD and sold at cost, the initiative provides an accessible alternative to expensive official FIFA merchandise (via GQ).
The jerseys are manufactured locally by Mazzi Sports, a custom sports apparel business operating out of its Brooklyn factory since 1986, and were designed by Brooklyn-based illustrator Arsh Raziuddin.
The local NYC kits feature distinct city motifs, including Big Apple and pigeon graphics, and are available in three colorways: black and white, yellow and black, and blue and orange.

2026 World Cup Teams Use Different Sleeves for New Debutant Patch
For the 2026 World Cup, FIFA has introduced a special 'Debut Patch' to be worn by players making their first appearance in the tournament, but the placement of this new badge varies between national teams. Mexico has positioned the debutant patch on the left sleeve of their kits, whereas South Africa has opted to place it on the right sleeve. This new addition for the competition allows federations flexibility in integrating the debutant patch alongside other official tournament sleeve badges.
