Cerro Porteño Cover Up Shirt Sponsor Following Bank Collapse

Paraguayan giants Cerro Porteño took to the pitch with a notable makeshift modification on their kit...

Paraguayan giants Cerro Porteño took to the pitch with a notable makeshift modification on their kits during their Torneo Clausura match against Libertad. The club applied a dual-colored red and blue patch directly over the chest to conceal the logo of primary sponsor ueno bank, which usually sits prominently above Tigo.

The swift move comes after the Central Bank of Paraguay intervened and initiated a resolution process for ueno bank following a severe drop in the institution's solvency index below legal thresholds, leading to a complete halt of its operations. Rather than sporting the failed financial entity's branding on their Puma kits, Cerro Porteño opted to cover it up on the pitch, a move mirrored across Paraguayan football as rivals Olimpia and the national football association took steps to scrub the brand from uniforms and stadiums.

Cerro Porteño had signed an extensive long-term agreement with the bank that was set to run through 2030, covering not only jersey sponsorship but also the naming rights for their stadium, La Nueva Olla. With legal teams now reviewing the contract for formal termination, the club is set to permanently strip the branding across all kit wear and club facilities.

Update - November 5th: Ezeta has released a first close-up picture of its Ascoli Calcio shirt, made in collaboration with Hummel ahead of its full release tomorrow.

Italian creative brand Ezeta and Danish kit manufacturer Hummel have officially teased an upcoming three-way collaboration with Ascoli Calcio 1898, set to be unveiled on November 6, 2026.

Teased with the tagline "Follow the Picchio. The city of a hundred towers.", the project celebrates the club's anniversary and history of Ascoli Piceno.

With Hummel serving as the club's technical sponsor starting in the 26-27 season, this special venture will be Ezeta's first project with a Serie B team. It is set to feature a bespoke birthday jersey alongside dedicated capsule items. The announcement image hints at the use of the classic 1980s and 90s Picchio logo.

Monograms combine letters from a name into a distinctive symbol. Dating back to the Middle Ages, they were originally used on coins, seals and as personal signatures.

By the late 19th century, monograms had become increasingly popular among British sporting clubs, appearing on caps, shirts and official documents. Many football clubs adopted the style for their early crests, combining initials from their names into a single emblem.

While some clubs have since moved to other designs, monograms remain an important part of football identity. The style is particularly popular in Brazil, where iconic examples include Flamengo, Fluminense, Internacional...

Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard has been spotted testing a whiteout prototype of the next-generation Adidas Predator football boots during training. Following in the footsteps of Arsenal teammate Declan Rice, who was also recently seen trialing an all-white test model, the Norwegian playmaker took to the pitch in the unreleased silhouette as Adidas intensifies elite athlete feedback ahead of the generation's official unveiling.

The prototype worn by Ødegaard features a laced low-cut build with a streamlined knit tongue construction, tailored to his personal fit preferences. Aesthetically, the upcoming boot draws unmistakable inspiration from the iconic 2000 Predator Precision, highlighted by sweeping, wavy three stripes wrapping around the sides.

Expected to hit the market in late 2026 or early 2027 ahead of the second half of the 26-27 campaign, the next-generation Adidas Predator will be available in laced, laceless, and classic fold-over tongue editions.
