No More DXC Technology: Manchester United Announces SumUp Sleeve Sponsor Deal

  • New Sleeve Sponsor Announced: Manchester United has officially partnered with global financial technology company SumUp as their new official sleeve sponsor for the men's, women's, and academy team kits in a multi-year agreement.
  • SumUp's Specialization and Debut: SumUp, which specializes in card payment hardware and digital business tools, will feature its branding on United's kit sleeves, with the updated design making its on-pitch debut after the September international break.
  • Financial Value and Predecessor: The new multi-year deal with SumUp is reportedly valued at over £20 million per season, making it one of the most lucrative partnerships and replacing the expired contract with DXC Technology.

Manchester United have officially announced global financial technology company SumUp as their new official sleeve partner in a multi-year agreement. The partnership will see the payments and point-of-sale brand featured on the sleeves of the men's, women's, and academy team kits starting immediately.

SumUp, which specializes in card payment hardware and digital business tools for millions of merchants worldwide, has significantly expanded its football footprint in recent weeks.

Manchester United Announces SumUp Sleeve Sponsor Deal

The agreement fills a notable commercial gap for the club heading into the 26-27 campaign. United began the season without a sleeve sponsor following the expiration of their multi-year contract with DXC Technology at the end of the 2025-26 season. That brief absence led to Premier League sleeve badges appearing on both arms during the opening fixtures of the new season, in accordance with league equipment regulations.

Reports indicate that the new deal with SumUp is valued at more than the previous £20 million per season agreement with DXC, making it one of the most lucrative shirt sleeve partnerships in the Premier League and across world football.

In August 2026, the fintech brand was also announced as Newcastle United's official training kit partner in a separate multi-year deal.

The SumUp branding on Manchester United's kits features the company's rounded square icon sitting above the lowercase wordmark, rendered cleanly in white on the home shirt. The updated sleeve design will make its on-pitch debut following the September international break.

First Time in 12 Years: Juventus Bring Back Long-Sleeved Kits on Pitch

Making his Juventus debut in the match against AC Milan, Nick Woltemade was the only Juventus player on the pitch wearing long sleeves. Excluding special-edition kits, the German strike became the first Bianconeri player made this choice since Andrea Pirlo and Claudio Marchisio back in the 13-14 season.

Remarkably, even Cristiano Ronaldo, a long-sleeve icon, never wore one during his time in Turin.

Liverpool Could Use a Text-Only Turkish Airlines Sponsor?

Liverpool have announced that Turkish Airlines will become the club's new shirt sponsor from the 2027-28 season, ending the Reds' 17-year partnership with Standard Chartered.

While early fan concepts have used Turkish Airlines' familiar circular bird logo above the wordmark, a text-only sponsor could also be a realistic option.

The airline previously used a simplified two-line “TURKISH AIRLINES” wordmark on River Plate's shirts between 2019 and 2022, while Turkish clubs such as Galatasaray and Samsunspor have also used streamlined typographic versions of the branding.

A text-only layout could give Liverpool's future Adidas shirts a cleaner, less crowded look. The final sponsor application has yet to be confirmed, with the partnership set to begin in June 2027.
