US Soccer national team and Borussia Dortmund striker Christian Pulisic has received an extraordinary Nike Mercurial 360 2018 football boot by his new sponsor Hershey, a chocolate maker. The boots were given to him at Hershey's Chocolate World in Times Square on Thursday.
Christian Pulisic grew up in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and is no stranger to one of the biggest family attractions on the east coast, Hershey Park. Now, the United States men's national team star has joined forces with The Hershey Company.
Christian Pulisic Receives Custom Chocolate Bar-Inspired Nike Mercurial Boot
Part of a partnership between Pulisic and Hershey to promote the release of Reese's chocolate bars this month, custom shoe designer The Shoe Surgeon took a pair of the Nike Mercurial Vapor 360 soccer cleats and "Reese-ified" them by adding chocolate and Reese's Pieces, inspired by the Reese's Outrageous candy.
"Growing up in Hershey, the company, its brands and the people have been something I've always admired," said Pulisic, whose favorite candy is Reese's, in a release. "It's a dream come true to partner with Hershey."
Reese's Outrageous bars combine milk chocolate, caramel and mini Reese's Pieces rolled in peanut butter and covered in more chocolate.
The company said this is "just the first initiative" in its partnership with Pulisic.
"It's not very often that a superstar hails from your own backyard. We're thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome Christian to the Hershey team and look forward to our partnership and following his illustrious career both on and off the field," vice president of the Hershey experience Suzanne Jones said.
