Adidas Rolls Out Trefoil For All Bigger Teams

  • Widespread Trefoil Rollout: Adidas is set to significantly expand the use of its iconic Trefoil logo across all levels of football, making it a "second" official logo for the brand.
  • Expanded Product Categories and Teams: The Trefoil logo, initially seen on elite clubs' third kits, will now feature on kits for a broader range of teams, as well as on footwear, equipment, and general apparel for the 2026-27 season and beyond.
  • Commercial Success as Catalyst: This extensive expansion is a direct result of the Trefoil's huge commercial success and massive fan approval on previous third kits, which led to a significant boost in Adidas's sales.

Update - Thursday, August 6, 2026: A nice infographic by Mystery Football shows off 40 club teams that receive the Trefoil treatment in the 2026-2027 season. What started as a 5-club collection in the 24-25 season has now reached the masses.

Update - Thursday, July 30, 2026: As we revealed back in August 2025, the Adidas Trefoil logo has come to way more teams in the 2026-27 season. A nice infographic by Gollo Football shows off 21 club team kits that have the Trefoil, but there are even more.

Update - Thursday, May 28, 2026: The 2026-27 season kit releases have started - while only a single Trefoil kit has been revealed yet (Orlando Pirates), we already know that at least 30 Adidas teams will get a Trefoil kit in 26-27 (no info about Paris FC and Como leaked yet) to get a Trefoil kit. There are certainly more than 30 teams in the end that get a Trefoil.

Update - March 11, 2026 Confirming our report from last August, two smaller Adidas teams got access to the Trefoil logo - Kosovo and Brest. Both Kosovo's and Brest's new Trefoil kits were created using the Adidas Locker Room. The Trefoil logo is still not available for amateur teams via the Locker Room, however. Still, expect dozens more teams to get Trefoil kits for the 26-27 season.

The Trefoil logo will be featured on many Adidas 26-27 away kits, including, of course, all Elite teams, plus mid-tier teams like Köln, Frankfurt, and Leeds.

Aug 15, 2025: Following the immense success of its return to on-pitch apparel, Footy Headlines can exclusively reveal that Adidas is planning to dramatically expand the use of its iconic Trefoil logo across the entire football pyramid.

Adidas to Roll Out Trefoil Across Entire Football Pyramid

This bold new strategy will see the classic Trefoil logo appear on a wide range of products, including kits, footwear, and apparel, for clubs at all levels.

The Trefoil's comeback, which began with the 2024-25 third kits for elite clubs, is set to go mainstream. The logo will no longer be a special feature for a select few but will be integrated across the brand's whole football ecosystem.

  • Kits: The Trefoil will appear on kits for a much wider range of clubs, not just the top tier.
  • Footwear: Football boots will feature the Trefoil logo.
  • Equipment: Goalkeeper gloves and other accessories will also get the Trefoil treatment.
  • Apparel: The logo will be central to lifestyle and training collections.
No Only Elite Tier Anymore

This move suggests a major shift in Adidas's strategy. By giving all clubs access to the Trefoil, it effectively narrows the branding gap between the so-called "elite" teams and lower-tier clubs.

Fueled by Commercial Success

The reason behind this expansion is clear: the return of the Trefoil has been a huge commercial success. The 2024-25 and 2025-26 third kits were met with massive fan approval, which reportedly strongly boosted Adidas's sales in both footwear and apparel.

This new information also serves as the ultimate confirmation of our report from November 2024, when we stated that the Trefoil was set to become a "second" official logo for Adidas Football, implying its use would become much more widespread.

Puma Kit Durability Questioned Again as Julian Ryerson Suffers Ripped Shorts

Borussia Dortmund full-back Julian Ryerson suffered an unusual kit malfunction during BVB's 1-0 Bundesliga victory against VfB Stuttgart. Midway through the second half, the Norwegian international engaged in a physical duel with Stuttgart winger Jamie Leweling. As Leweling fell to the turf, he grabbed hold of Ryerson's shorts, completely tearing the outer seam apart and leaving the fabric hanging loose.

Ryerson initially attempted to carry on playing by knotting the shredded material at his hip. After repeatedly signaling toward the bench that the damaged kit could not hold up, he eventually made his way to the sideline. Second-choice goalkeeper Alexander Meyer rushed over to hand him a fresh pair, resulting in a brief moment where Ryerson was left in his base-layer yellow undershorts before donning the replacement gear and re-entering the pitch.

The incident has brought Puma's kit durability back under scrutiny. The German brand constructs its authentic elite kits using lightweight Ultraweave performance fabric, prioritizing minimal weight and high breathability. However, the delicate material has repeatedly faced criticism among supporters after tearing in high-intensity tussles, with Ryerson's mishap marking another visible tear on the Bundesliga stage this 26-27 season.

Monterrey Debuts Special Coca-Cola 100th Anniversary Kit Font

CF Monterrey sported a special commemorative nameset on their 26-27 Puma home kit during their Liga MX match against Cruz Azul at Estadio BBVA. The bespoke squad numbers and lettering were created in collaboration with longtime club partner Coca-Cola to celebrate the company's 100th anniversary in Mexico (1926-2026).

The font features an eye-catching textured look inspired by traditional Mexican artisan beadwork. Rendered in a bold red base adorned with intricate white, green, and red jewel-like accents reflecting the national flag, each number also integrates a subtle Rayados crest at the base. Positioned neatly above the numbers is the official red Coca-Cola 100 México anniversary script and lockup.

Alongside its on-pitch appearance with the first team, the commemorative nameset was released as an exclusive collector's edition. Only 100 supporters were given the opportunity to customize their 26-27 home shirt with the special font directly at the official Estadio BBVA club store.

Match-Worn Harry Kane Bayern Munich Kit Cut Up for Rare Topps Cards

Trading card manufacturer Topps has revealed a set of four ultra-rare trading cards created by cutting up a match-worn Harry Kane Bayern Munich jersey. Released as part of the 2025-26 Topps Museum Collection UEFA Club Competitions series, the cards take the striker's match-worn nameplate and divide it into four individual one-of-one collectibles.

Each card in the Museum Nameplate Relics subset houses a single letter from Kane's surname: "K", "A", "N", and "E". Embedded in a dedicated display window alongside a photo of Kane in Bayern colors, the fabric swatches highlight the cream-colored knit and deep red lettering from a Bayern kit, marked with official "Match-Worn Memorabilia" certification and UEFA Champions League branding.

While relic cards featuring match-worn gear have been popular in the hobby for years, deconstructing entire match-worn shirts to create cards regularly divides opinions among kit collectors who would rather see historic shirts preserved intact.

For high-end card enthusiasts, however, piecing together all four separate 1/1 cards to rebuild the complete nameplate is set to be one of the rarest pursuits in the collection.
